At this time the most popular musical festival all over the world has already started. it's Salvador, capital city of Bahia, 2006 carnival. It's most know because it gathers together around almost 3 million people from everywhere in the world.
During its seven days of party you just have to hang around the city to realize that you're not alone. People from each corner of the globe show to feel this magic, warm, cheerful, hospitable, happy, comfortable and noisy environment. The mixture of rhythms and sounds can deliver visitors the mystic sensation of going back on time, to the ancient black people atmosphere who helped to build this enheritance, this city and this legacy.
The "Momo King", a tradicional character of this party, will receive today the city keys, in a symbolical act, from the hands of the Major. This character must follow some rules and fill at least a few sort of requirements, he has to be kind of charismatic and weights a lot. This year's winner is about 150 kilos!
Talking about the artists on the "main stage" (Salvador's streets), it's expected a range of surprising and innovative presences such as Fat Boy Slim and U2, the band has just played twice this week in São Paulo, Brazil. The band leader Bono Vox was invited to visit the city and face the contagious energy which fills the city this epoc by Brazil's Ministry of Culture Gilberto Gil, who also is a wonderful musician. They have not confirmed if they are going to play. If you are lucky, why not? And the best, for free!!
